The Khabarovsk City Tour The History of Khabarovsk The history of the city goes back to the 19th century. It was a small military post founded by Captain Dyachenko. In 1893 the military post Khabarovka was renamed into Khabarovsk. Khabarovsk was located in a very convenient place, at the confluence of the rivers of the Amur and Ussuri. Khabarovka began to develop quickly. Fur, fishing and an inequivalent exchange with natives started rather profitable business and involved set of people from all Russia Today Khabarovsk is one of the largest industrial cities of Russia. There are some places of interest which every tourist should visit in Khabarovsk The Lenin Square The Railway square The railways, from the west and the east, from the north and the south meet in Khabarovsk. The largest in the Far East railway station is located here. The Railway square is the Railway Gates of Khabarovsk City. There is a monument to Erofei P. Khabarov in the center of the square. The expedition of the Russian explorer, Erofei P. Khabarov, played a great role in connection of the Far East to Russia. The Regional Musical Comedy Theatre The Museum of Regional Studies The museum was founded in 1894 on the initiative of the Priamursky department of the Russian geographical society. It is one of the oldest museums in the Far East. The well-known scientists and public figures, enthusiasts and regional specialists took part in creation of the museum and accumulation of the collections. The are many historical documents and exhibits such as a collection of rocks, minerals and rare species of the flora and fauna. The Platinum Arena It is a multipurpose sports-entertainment complex in Khabarovsk for carrying out: sports competitions (hockey, volleyball, figure skating, curling, boxing, all kinds of struggle, basketball, ball dances, gymnastics); concerts of the world stars (opera singers, symphonic orchestras, stars of the modern foreign and domestic stage); circus shows; exhibitions and fairs, conferences, celebrations of anniversaries of the organizations and firms Monument to N.N.Muravev Nikolay Muravyev-Amursky was a statesman and the diplomat, the governor-general of the Eastern Siberia. He had defined the place for the city which became subsequently Khabarovsk. The majestic monument was created by the outstanding Russian sculptor A.M.Opekushin - the author of the well-known monument to A.S.Pushkin in Moscow Temple of the Prelate Innokentij Irkutskiy This temple is the main orthodox temple of the city. It has been the oldest church of Khabarovsk since 1870. Firstly the temple was wooden. But in the 30-s the services were stopped, when it decayed Then the stone church was constructed in the style of the churches of the 17-th century. Svyato-preobrazhenskiy cathedral The cathedral was opened in 2004. It is the third temple in size among orthodox temples of Russia. It is situated on the Glory square of the Khabarovsk city. Its height is 95 meters from the ground up to the top of the gold dome. The weight of the bells is 3 thousand tons.
