London‘s places of interest The Tower is very old. It has a long and cruel history. It was a fortress, a palace, a zoo and a prison for important people. Today it is a museum. The Tower of London Special guards look after the Tower and take care of the black ravens that live there. Big Ben Big Ben is the name of the tower and the clock. Big Ben is really a bell. The bell is over 2 metres tall and chimes every quarter of an hour. The Tower of Big Ben is a symbol of London and Britain. Тower Bridge Tower Bridge was opened in 1894. The Bridge is a symbol of London which attracts the tourists. The Houses of Parliament It is the seat of the British government. The government consists of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The country's leaders speak in the House of Parliament. Westminster Abbey It is the best-known church in England. It was built by King Edward in1065. The coronations of all British kings and queens takes place here. Some famous English people are also buried here. Buckingham Palace It is the London home of the Queen. There are 600 rooms in the palace and the royal family has got a cinema and a swimming pool in there. Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square is situated in the centre of London. It is well-known all over the world. The Square is famous for Nelson's Column. There are four lions on the bottom of the column. Different cultural festivals take place in the square. Hyde ParkIt is one of the largest royal parks in London. It's famous for its Speaker's Corner where everyone can come and say what he/she wants.
