The Inscription on the Bell“PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT ALL THE LAND UNTO ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF LEV. XXV. V X.BY ORDER OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE PROVINCE OF PENSYLVANIA FOR THE STATEHOUSE IN PHILADAPASS AND STOWPHILADAMDCCLIII” local workmen John Pass and John Stow, whose last names appear on the bell, recast the Bell after it cracked



The CrackThere is disagreement about when the first crack appeared on the Bell. In order to preserve the Bell, the Liberty Bell was never used again. The Bell hasn’t been rung since Washington’s Birthday in 1846.

The Liberty Bell is a symbol of independenceState House Bell => the Liberty Bell in July 8, 1776. It summoned the citizens to hear the first reading of the Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon. The Liberty Bell became a symbol for ending slavery in America

The Liberty Bell is a symbol of unityThe flag and the Liberty Bell became a symbol of unity.To help heal the wounds of the Civic War, the Liberty Bell would travel across the country.

The Liberty Bell todayThe Liberty Bell Center was opened in October, 2003. On every 4th of July, children who are descendants of Declaration signers symbolically tap the Liberty Bell 13 times.The bells also ring 13 times in honour of the patriots from the original 13 states.
