Н.А.ГридневаСамара, 2016 Concrete is a commonly known and widely used building material. The amount of concrete used worldwide, ton for ton, is twice that of steel, wood, plastics, and aluminum combined. Concrete is used more than any other manmade material in the world. As of 2006, about 7.5 billion cubic meters of concrete are made each year, more than one cubic meter for every person on Earth. Concrete's use in the modern world is exceeded only by that of naturally occurring water. Concrete is used in large quantities almost everywhere mankind has a need for infrastructure.Concrete is widely used for making architectural structures, foundations, brick/block walls, floor slabs, pavements, bridges/overpasses, highways, runways, parking structures, dams, pools/reservoirs, pipes, footings for gates, fences and poles and even boats. Concrete is one of the most frequently used building materials in animal houses and for manure and silage storage structures in agriculture. Concrete is a composite material. Its components are the cement, water and aggregates, which can be natural (natural sands and crushed rock sands) or artificial (from crushed brick or from blast furnace slag), fine or coarse. The physical properties of concrete are affected to a large degree by the properties of the components of the concrete mix, by the proportions in which they are used and also by the treatment to which the concrete is subjected during and after placing. The physical properties of concrete are strength, impermeability, shrinkage, thermal movements and others. The types of concrete used today are many and varied depending upon the special properties desired of the concrete. These special properties may be, for example, adequate strength and durability, impermeability, fire resistance, thermal insulation, resistance to aggressive substances, or shielding from radiation. There are very many types of concrete available. Concrete is moldable, beautiful and decorative.Printed concrete paving examples Concretedoes not burn, melt, sag, or collapse in most fires. Concretecan use unskilled or semi-skilled labor Concrete construction is fast.Less time between start of project occupancy than with many competing materials. Thank You for Your Attention!
