A Christmas tree is one of the main symbols of Christmas. That’s why every year there is a big Christmas tree in the centre of London, in Trafalgar Square. This is a present from the people of Norway to the people of Great Britain. They send it to Londoners every year and Londoners decorate the Christmas tree. Some weeks before Christmas English people are busy. They send greeting cards to relatives and friends. On Christmas Eve people put their presents under the tree. Many children believe that Santa Claus comes at nights and brings presents. That’s why children hang up stockings at the end of their beds. On Christmas people always have Christmas dinner. They eat turkey, potatoes and green vegetables. Then they have the Christmas pudding. At five o’clock it’s time for tea and Christmas cake. The day after Christmas is Boxing Day. This day people usually give and receive presents. This is time to visit friends and relatives or to sit at home and watch football. a sportsman who is running; a singer who always sings; a man who froze to death; an girl who likes to boast; a priest; an officer to the soldiers; a man who is thirsty.
